I’ve worked in fashion for years, and I have so much respect for designers, pattern makers, technical designers, and stylists.

This year’s Met Gala felt a little polarizing to me. The pomp and circumstance of wealthy donor/
honorary co chairs. It’s a lot.

But I also have to remind myself this night fully supports the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute. The money raised is for funding staff, research, exhibitions, acquisitions, and the preservation of fashion history.

So yeah, my head and my heart are kind of battling it out. It also opens up a bigger conversation about how art and cultural access can sometimes be shaped by who can afford a seat…big biz

But sketching some of my favorite looks made me see the craftsmanship, the detail, the intention behind each piece. And the creatives that made these looks should kinda be celebrated.
