Just a friendly reminder that the calf muscles and lower legs are powerful knee stabilizers. Also, it will probably do more for your foot pain to really GET AFTER IT with calves than to do towel scrunchies or something cutesy.
Calf and tibialis work takes very little systemic recovery; this is one reason I use it in the A-series. For me, getting a good lower-leg pump has never detracted from a squat workout. Or it can even be before cardio on a lower-intensity day.
