The artwork for the American Jackpot side was a bit more straightforward. To convert the photo to the iconic “baddie” propaganda poster artwork style, we simply stripped the color, ramped up the contrast, faded the shadows, added a screen printed distress, vintage discoloration and foreboding red smoke… and as Slick McCheese would say, “walla!”

You’re not likely to come across two women so persistent as the Dodds sisters on a mission to accomplish the impossible. Here’s a partial stack of the whiteboards we constructed in the pursuit of perfecting the magic wallet created exclusively for American Jackpot / American Girls.

Yesterday was a really good day, and we’re still trying to catch our breath. This artwork represents almost a year of conceptualization and another of ex*****on - countless hours of construction and scrutinizing over millimeters and half-millimeters and the difference between the bend of coated vs uncoated stocks - stacks upon tumbling stacks of mock-ups and endless hours of mind-numbing paper cutting and folding - miles of double-sided tape and gallons of eye drops…. And that was just to get the template for the custom magic CD wallet to work (psst… it opens from both sides). We were told it was impossible (repeatedly). We never liked that word….
