I'm a former French teacher and school bus driver that also bakes family recipes on the side. Growing up, I watched my mom, mammaw, and nannaw bake.
How about we make my dad’s BBQ beans for Father’s Day? My dad died when I was 18, but he left me with lots of great memories. Making this today brought back some of those memories. I hope you enjoy!

I’ve been baking again! This time, I made coconut fried pies, pineapple fried pies made in the air fryer, and a coconut pie. If I had my bus out here, I could have a “Bakery Bus” to drive around L.A. Maybe someday. 😊
How about we make my Nannaw's fried pineapple pies? I've shown you how mammaw made her fried pies, so how about we see how my Nannaw did hers? Her dough is slightly different. She made pineapple fried pies, which is different than the way I've seen other fried pies made. The only thing I'd change in the pie filling is to use pineapple juice instead of water when cooking the pineapples down.
How about we actually fry those fried pies? A lot of people deep fry their fried pies. Mammaw didn't. She used a thin layer of Crisco for her pies. I'll show you how she did it.
How about we make mammaw's chocolate filling for her fried pies? A lot of people make a chocolate pie filling for fried pies, but mammaw didn't. She used cocoa, sugar, and butter. See how she did it. These were probably my favorite of all of the fried pies she made.
How about we make mammaw's apricot filling for her fried pies? In the previous videos, I showed how to make the dough and peach pie filling. Mammaw used dried apricots in her fried pies. See how she reconstituted them in this video. I cooked these on the stove for about 17 minutes, but they could go a little longer. Keep watching and add water as needed.
How about we make the peach filling for mammaw's fried pies? This is part 2 of this series of videos. Mammaw always made peach, apricot, apple, and chocolate fried pies. In this video, we'll make the peach fried pies. I cooked the peaches on the stove for about 20-25 minutes. Watch it to make sure it doesn't burn.
How about we make mammaw's fried pie dough? I broke the video into five parts. This first part shows how mammaw made her fried pie dough. It's not that hard! In later videos, I'll show how to make the peach filling, apricot filling, chocolate filling, and finally how to fry the pies. Enjoy!
