Fox 103.5 FM...A deputy from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office is no longer on the job and is facing criminal charges after an investigation into the suspected abuse of a foster child. Andrew Williams was taken into custody on Wednesday around noon and charged with battery. Jail records indicate that he posted bond and was out within half an hour of being booked. The investigation kicked off last week when a foster child ran away from the home in fear and reached out to the police. The young person told investigators that Williams had whipped him with a belt at least 20 times. Since Williams had several foster kids living with him, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and state welfare officials were brought in to help. All the other children have since been removed from the home. After a quick internal affairs probe, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Williams is no longer with the agency. Officials didn’t clarify whether he was fired or resigned, and a court date hasn’t been scheduled yet.
