This is “Another Season II,” a track from my new album, The Prison of Language.
The original “Another Season,” released in 2011, was performed by pianist Jason Moran. However, this piece is a completely new composition with the same title, and it serves as the main theme of the musical drama The Prison of Language.
This piece exists in two versions: one is an orchestral version, and the other is a piano solo version with male vocals. In this short video, I am introducing both versions together.
The orchestral version was recorded live in Seoul. I am deeply grateful to the wonderful conductor Wonil Gwak, Yung String, and jazz vocalist Yunmi Kang for their beautiful work. The accompaniment was created entirely with orchestra, and the arrangement was done by Matthew Nicholl, one of my most beloved arrangers.
The piano solo version features pianist Jaehun Kang and vocalist Dohyun Kim.
Imagining the day when we will meet again, someday, in another season…
You will be able to listen to the full piece when the album is released on June 1.

My new album, The Prison of Language, will be available on all streaming platforms on June 1.
I am sharing one of the songs from the album with you as a preview of the context behind my creative journey.
To create this album, I interviewed 14 suicide-loss survivors in Korea. One of them was a father who lost his daughter 20 years ago. She was only 20 years old. He has lived with deep grief, and over time, he transformed his life from being a green tea farmer into becoming a dancer.
One day, he sent me a rough recording of himself singing in his car. His melody was incredibly touching, and somehow my original melody worked with his in both key and tempo. So I created this track to honor his life.
You can listen to the full version when it becomes available on June 1.
I created this preview video using his interview and the music.
This was an emotionally and psychologically difficult project, but I am doing it because we need to talk about this.
I look forward to your comments.
You can also listen to the full album by searching The Prison of Language on global streaming platforms, or 언어의 감옥 on Korean streaming platforms. I have obtained all the necessary permissions to create and share this work.

Even before I officially studied music, I grew up listening to many great musicians. I was introduced to many giants who shaped my musical taste today. Joe Sample was one of them. I just wanted to say this: Joe Sample was so good! Mystery Child from Did You Feel That (1994).
