HopAlong Farm

The summer solstice was Wednesday. 1st official day of summer! When it comes to growing hops it is the time of year when the plants slow down growing to the top line and start producing hop cones! We have signs this week of the plants beginning this transformation. Another great part of this time of year is the fruit around the farm is starting to be almost ready. Be on the lookout for locally made beers with HopAlong hops here soon!

Centennial plants are now taking off up the lines and the 1st year Columbus plants. Ohio State Univ. has come up 3 times so far this season checking for spider mites for research on predatory mites. So far so good. Out of 200(+) leaf samples they found 2. Pretty stoked about those numbers. Still have leaf hoppers and Japanese beetles to be on the lookout for in the coming months however.
