Desert Forge 26 | 609th CEC-I

Spent the day in the field with the Soldiers of the 609th CEC-I during Desert Forge 26. From rehearsals and tactical movement through challenging terrain to leader engagement and shared meals in the field, these Soldiers demonstrated the professionalism, adaptability, and teamwork required to operate in complex environments.

Readiness is built one repetition at a time. Training like this strengthens our ability to communicate, move, sustain, and accomplish the mission when Nevada and the Nation call.

What we do matters.

Battle Born. Battle Tested. Battle Ready.

What We Do Matters.

Army cooks don’t just serve meals- they generate combat power. Every mission, every movement, every live-fire event depends on Soldiers being fed, fueled, and ready to fight.

Proud to spend time with these outstanding culinary specialists during Desert Forge 26. Their work may happen behind the scenes, but their impact is felt across the battlefield. Readiness starts with sustainment, and sustainment starts with Soldiers like these.

Battle Born. Battle Tested. Battle Ready. 🇺🇸

Warfighting in Action-

Soldiers from 1-221 CAV successfully completed daytime squad live-fire operations. Through disciplined communication, detailed rehearsals, and aggressive ex*****on, these Soldiers demonstrated the fundamentals of infantry warfighting.

Success on the battlefield is built long before first contact. Repetitive training, clear communication, and violence of action create confident teams capable of closing with and defeating any adversary.

Battle Born. Battle Tested. Battle Ready.

Warfighting- Weapons Range

We broke ground today on Nevada’s first Army-approved qualification range, another step in sharpening our warfighting edge.

Our Soldiers will soon train here at home, to standard, every time.

Less travel. More reps. Higher readiness.
This is how we prepare to win.

DETR provides support and guidance on unemployment insurance benefits for federal employees affected by the federal government shutdown.

For more information on eligibility, how to apply for unemployment insurance, and resources, visit: Federal Shutdown Guidance - Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. https://detr.nv.gov/Page/Federal_Shutdown_Guidance

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 22,000 federal employees work in Nevada, not including federal contractors. It is not yet known how many may be eligible for unemployment insurance during the shutdown.

“We are here to support federal workers affected by the shutdown,” said Christopher Sewell, director of DETR. “DETR is ready to assist Nevadans with unemployment benefits and reconnecting them to opportunities.”

Federal workers who are furloughed may apply for unemployment benefits during the shutdown at nui.nv.gov. Those with reduced hours may also qualify for partial benefits. Employees who are working but are not receiving pay may also qualify for benefits.

Separately, paid administrative leave for federal employees who voluntarily accepted the Deferred Resignation Program ended on September 30, 2025. These individuals will now be considered unemployed and may be eligible for UI benefits.

DETR also offers a wide range of services directed at those who are out of work or looking to change paths. Career seekers are encouraged to register with Nevada’s largest database of jobs at EmployNV.gov and visit or call an EmployNV Career Hub for help with no-cost employment and training assistance.
