Happy Trans Day of Visibility!
I, Xander, wore my nonbinary pride bucket hat camping for a couple of reasons:
- to protect my ears from the sun 🤠
- to let the right people know that I don't in fact identify as a binary trans man, which is what people often assume based on my scars and voice 🏳️‍⚧️
If people don't know me, I don't usually mind if they use he/him pronouns, but it's important to respect people's preferred pronouns once you learn them! That goes for any pronouns. Just because I personally prefer they/them for myself, that's not an excuse to use they/them for everyone without paying attention to people's actual identities. Trans women and fems always have the right to demand she/her pronouns regardless of whether they "pass" or not. Trans men and mascs have the right to he/him pronouns no matter what transitional steps they have or haven't taken. Nonbinary people do not owe anyone androgyny. Pronouns often can't be guessed based on someone's appearance alone, so it's important to listen carefully for people's pronouns and do your best to use them correctly. If you can find someone's pronouns on social media or learn from a friend, even better! However, that's not always an option and sometimes asking directly can be undesirable... so we also sell pronoun masks and offer a number of rubber pronoun patches that can be applied to hats, beanies, overalls, jackets, work attire, etc. so that people can more easily signal how they would like to be gendered 😎
Our solid colors and stonewashed bucket hats are running low, so get one for pride before they sell out! New prints coming soon as a replacement
