Carla Francis had an interesting encounter at a recent National at San Diego. Here it is in her own words:
My partner and I were playing Open Fast Pairs on Sunday at the San Diego Nationals, when I suddenly realized we were playing against Benito Garozzo! He was a nice opponent and I only recognized him because his partner keep calling him Benito. I had read the article about him that morning in the tournament paper. In the two board match up, we got an above average board and a below average board. Whew! It was exciting for me, playing against a member of the Italian Blue Team from 1961!
