Good Morning Wyse Friends;
I hope everyone had a great weekend. Yesterday, I got to spend some time with two of my favorite Wysdohm young friends, which is always a delight for me. They brought in one of their friends to show her the store. The girls were spending their day on a mission to buy squishies, and wanted to know if the store carried them. Interestingly, the squishy craze came up in a conversation with Sam, my daughter-in-law, just the day before.
Here are my thoughts on squishies and why I won't carry them in the store.
1. Sam is a teacher. She reports squishies are actually inhibiting learning in school, not aiding. They are a distraction.
2. This Tik Tok trend will pass, and those toxic toys will end up in the landfill. Not very eco-mindful or kind.
3. Yes, they are toxic. The common concern that is being expressed by EU countries is that the squeezing acts as an accelerant, releasing toxic chemicals and through a process called "off-gassing" our children are inhaling these toxic chemicals, including Dimethylformamide (DMF), an industrial solvent linked to liver damage and reproductive toxicity, Toluene, a neurotoxin that affects the central nervous system, Styrene, a possible human carcinogen, Xylene and methylene chloride, known respiratory irritants, Formaldehyde, known carcinogen and Phthalates, plasticizers associated with endocrine disruption. With what I've learned in this process of mindful ordering of products and doing my research, absorption through skin is often one of the most bioavailable ways to get something good for us into our system. The same would go for toxic things, and I'm mindful of a concern that by constantly squeezing a toxic toy are we unintentionally introducing toxins through absorption into our children's system?
Instead of squishies, there is a multitude of mindful items out there that we can introduce to our children that give them long-term life skills in managing anxiety. Two of my favorite are our anxiety relief breathing necklaces and our Breathing Pals. Both help with developing skills for use long into adulthood.

Happy Tuesday Wyse Friends;
I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather yesterday and had a chance to get some Vitamin D the natural way. So much is going on for me in a good way.

I'm about to turn 57 in a few days, so, of course, I'm a bit self-introspective (Pardon the pontification and share). I was recently told that someone had characterized me as "crazy" and "chaotic." I just laughed. At this age, I understand those types of things say more about the other person than me. I let them have their story and journey and focus on creating my own.

But I get it... I'm about to turn 57, and at a time when many are slowing down or feeling the best years are behind them, I'm springing out of bed grateful for another day to co-create with God/Universe/Divine. I look at the world as a place of infinite possibility, this life as a canvas to be beautifully painted to the very end, and every moment as an opportunity to connect with others through love and light.

And with the month of Pisces upon us, Harry Styles back in the world with Kiss Always, Disco Occasionally, so many exciting things developing, and Spring in the air... life feels like one big joyous Dance Party to me. One of my favorite things is creating the store's seasonal playlists and watching people enjoy the music, spontaneously singing and dancing along as they shop. So, I'm formally bringing the Dance Party to the store this month.

We're also doing some Spring cleaning... clearing out the old and the cold to welcome the new. We have some great sales on the "last few" of the winter collections... up to 50% off. I'm ready for a new haul of crystals from the Tucson Gem Show, so we're doing 25% off all crystal specimens this week. We've got lots of great new items coming in daily, including some great additions to the Wysdohm Refillery.

I've been playing around with AI, including Wysdohm's Issy Avatar from the book I have been writing called "Spark." She's coming to join us soon. In the meantime, I created "Wysdohm's Light", a Wysdohm theme song I co-created with AI. So make sure you turn up the volume on this post.
