Communities In Schools (CIS) serves 2 million students across 29 States and is the nation's leading community-based organization helping students stay in school through programs and partnerships within the Community to enable success in the classroom and prepare for life through meaningful work and education. With national budget cuts, the organization primarily relies on grants and volunteerism. Last year Rowan CIS was available to 3900 students and has provided access to caring adults to the 27% of the students with no such access. CIS connects community resources, such as school supplies, clothing, shelter, and food, with the Rowan County students and schools that need them.
