Richard Branson, the billionaire entrepreneur and founder of Virgin Group, firmly believes that emotional intelligence (EQ) is more critical for success than IQ.
In a recent LinkedIn discussion, Branson highlighted the significance of EQ, emphasizing that skills like empathy, understanding emotions, effective communication, and treating people well are vital for success in every aspect of life, including business.
He even admitted that if he had let his IQ and school grades determine his success, he wouldn't be where he is today.
Science supports Branson's view too! Numerous studies show that EQ often surpasses IQ when it comes to achieving success. Whether it's in the workplace, entrepreneurship, or even your personal life, EQ can be a game-changer.
So, if you've ever worried about not being the smartest in the room, take heart! EQ can be developed and honed, and it's often the key to opening doors to success. (Ask me how)
Remember, it's not about how high your IQ is, but how well you understand and connect with others.
Read the full article to discover why EQ matters and how you can leverage it to achieve your goals. I've included the link in the comments.

Rickson Gracie is one of the best, if not the best, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the history of the sport!
In this excerpt from the Jocko Podcast, Rickson explains the importance of breathing for controlling stress, emotions, and performance.
He describes how breathing techniques helped him prepare for his fights, enabling him to lower his heart rate and be more alert and focused.
Gracie also emphasizes that training in breathing is just as important as training in physical techniques because it enhances the body's capacity to function optimally.
He compares the breathing system to other muscles in the body, such as the biceps, and states that if you don't train it, you are working at only 40% of your capabilities.
Gracie mentions how hyperventilation can help in situations where oxygen levels are low, allowing the brain to stay sharp and focused.
Finally, Jocko Willink shares his experience in the military, where he learned to control his emotions through breathing techniques to sound calm and cool on the radio.
If Rickson and Jocko can use breathing techniques to stay calm under those types of stresses you can use them to stay calm in business situations and in every area of your life.
If you have questions or breathing techniques of your own I'd love to hear them. DM me or comment below.
