Think AI sucks? It's probably you.
It's not a human, it doesn't think like you and I, but it tries to find the response you will like the most. Prompting AI is a 'call to action', the call to action initiates a response from the AI while that response is a prediction to what it thinks we are looking for.
That's why context matters when you are prompting, you have to prompt in-depth and meticulous so it doesn't hallucinate what it thinks you want.
Here are the main super basic components you need to successfully create a prompt for any LLM.
* First of all, you have to be able to know what you want and be able to put it in words. You should be able to explain to a person exactly what you want and make it make sense. Without this, the AI will likely not give you exactly what you are looking for.
1. Context (all the relevant details about what you want, be specific and meticulous)
2. Create a Persona (ie. "you are a senior engineer developing an app...") [Not completely necessary but helps a lot]
3. Correct Format (ie. paragraphs, lowercase, bullet points, etc. provide examples of formatting for more advanced prompting)
4. Thinking (enable this feature or prompt the AI to think about the answer in steps)
With these simple basic techniques, your prompts should improve and you'll be ahead of 90% of people who use AI.
