Official Statement: At Books with Color, our commit has always been simple. Children deserve to feel safe, valued, seen, and supported — in every community.

We know that many families in Charlotte are feeling a deep sense of fear and uncertainty right now. We want you to know that you are not alone.

Our mission has never changed:

to bring joy, connection, and belonging into classrooms — especially for the students who need it most.

Books With Color will continue to:

Serve Title I schools and multilingual learners
bring diverse authors and stories into classrooms
Support children from immigrant, refugee, and multicultural families
Partner with teachers who are working to create safe, welcoming spaces
Uplift stories that affirm identity, dignity, and hope

We don’t have control over everything happening in our world.
But we do control how we show up for each other.
