Our Story
In the cold winter of 2016, a family from out of state found themselves without adequate shelter. Searching for resources, housing and employment became a daily task that was sometimes overwhelming. The family dealt with day to day stress by writing down positive experiences, developing roadmaps, attainable goals and sticking to daily habits.
This was shared through a blog called the Gray Daze Blog on WordPress. Within a month, this family received help from organizations like churches and social services that enabled the family to come from an inadequate living situation to a home and job. With a passion to give back to the community, The Gray Daze soon developed into Code Gray Day.
This is an organization that is used to connect with individuals and provide resourceful information in a timely manner. In June 2017, a small team of individuals devoted to helping the homeless community met to discuss the possibility and feasibility of developing a county wide resource fair. Immediately, Code Gray Day began to form board members and actively engaged the community. Code Gray Day serves local shelters, nonprofit organizations, and others needing volunteers to perform various tasks. In addition, Code Gray Day is planning a resource fair August 25, 2018 at the Cabarrus Library. Participants of Code Gray Day will be contacted frequently for encouragement and help with resourceful information.
