For the final day of PRIDE Month, I wanted to take a moment to be a beacon of light and love, and in the spirit of reiteration, reflection and retrospect, speak up and speak out!

I was very blessed when it came to my coming out story; my blood relatives had already concluded my sexuality long before I became brave enough to tell them, and they loved me just the same and in spite of that truth, and for that level of love and support, I have always been grateful.

The message I feel compelled to convey is that kindness is free; it does not and never costed one single cent to lead with love and to treat people with the same kindness, compassion and empathy that so many of you feel you are entitled to, however unjustifiably.

In an age and a time where our nation is the literal laughing stock of the world, our culture as Black people is consistently being misappropriated and crapped on by those who are racially and culturally fragile, and our culture as the LGBTQ+ community is riddled with so much internalized hate and toxicity, I wanted to use what little platform I have to let anyone who happens upon this video know that there is so much truth to the words of the great Bernard Baruch (NOT Dr. Seuss):

"Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter."

So whoever you have in your life, be them friend, family, foe or otherwise, let them. Let them spread the lies, let them feed and fuel the rumor mill, let them drag your good God-Given name through the mud.... let them, because you know who you are, and there's not a thing that anyone can say or do to change that... but you!
