Bringing home a new puppy is exciting, and having the right essentials on hand makes those first few weeks feel calmer and more manageable. Cozy bedding helps them settle, grooming tools build comfort with handling, age‑appropriate exercise supports healthy energy outlets, safe chews make teething easier, and a consistent potty‑training setup lays the foundation for good habits from day one.

The right tools don’t just make life easier, they help your puppy feel secure, supported, and ready to learn.

To make things even smoother, you can get 10% off food puzzles and enrichment toys like Kongs, Toppls, or Pupsicles from Woof with the code TrustedTails: https://mywoof.com/?rstr=TrustedTails

If you want guidance on building a strong foundation for your new pup, I’m here to help you every step of the way.

Fireworks may be fun for us, but for many dogs they’re loud, unpredictable, and genuinely frightening.

A few reminders to help keep your dog calmer during the holiday:
• Keep them inside before fireworks start, give them a safe quiet space, use white noise or calming music, and offer something soothing like a stuffed Kong, lick mat, or chew.
• If your dog struggles with mild stress, VetriScience Composure can be a helpful calming supplement to have on hand. Just make sure to give it to them before the fireworks start, not once they’re already panicking.
• Most importantly, make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date. More dogs go missing around the Fourth of July than almost any other time of year.

With a little preparation and a lot of reassurance, you can help your dog feel safe and supported through the holiday. Wishing you and your pups a peaceful, stress free 4th of July filled with comfort and connection.

In this video, you’ll see LunaBelle practicing the 1 2 3 pattern game. This is a simple rhythm where I count “1…2…3…” and she earns a treat on “3.” That predictable pattern helps her focus on me instead of everything happening around her, making leash walking feel calmer and more manageable.

For dogs like LunaBelle, pattern games can:
• Build confidence
• Reduce overwhelm
• Create steadier engagement
• Make walks feel safer and more connected

And the best part? LunaBelle is a sweet rescue girl who’s available for adoption. She’s smart, eager to learn, and already showing how beautifully she can thrive with the right guidance. Training will continue with her new adopter to keep her on this amazing path!

Not sure where to start with training? That’s exactly what our Consultations & Assessments are for.

Before we jump into any program, we take the time to understand your dog, your household, and the behaviors you’re seeing day‑to‑day. This isn’t a quick chat - it’s a thoughtful, personalized deep dive into what your dog needs to feel calmer, more confident, and more successful.

During your consultation, we will:
• Identify the root of the behaviors you’re struggling with
• Talk through your goals, routines, and environment
• Assess your dog’s emotional state, triggers, and learning style
• Build a clear, realistic plan for moving forward

Whether you’re dealing with reactivity, puppy chaos, fearfulness, or just want a stronger connection with your dog, this is the first step toward real, lasting progress.

If you’re ready for clarity, support, and a plan that actually fits your life, I’d love to help.

A very common question I get is: “Why is my dog so much worse with me than with you?”

That’s actually VERY normal.

Your dog already has a learning history with you. There are routines, habits, patterns, and expectations that have been built over time, both good and bad. That means owners are often having to change existing habits, while trainers usually start with a much cleaner slate and very clear expectations from the beginning.

As trainers and behaviorists, we’re also extremely consistent with our timing, handling, reinforcement, boundaries, and follow-through because we practice these skills constantly. That consistency is a huge reason why programs like day training can work so well.

It also doesn’t mean your dog “respects the trainer more” or loves you less.

Dogs are usually MUCH more emotional, excited, comfortable, and persistent with their owners because of the relationship they already have with them.

The good news is that these are all skills owners can absolutely learn too, which is why transfer sessions and owner coaching are such an important part of the training process 👏
