"Hello Morgan,

My name is Melissa Lang and I am President of a rescue in the Lake Norman area (Denver, NC) called Angels to the Animals.

I need some help and have no idea if or how you might be able to assist but knowing you are a dog lover and animal advocate, I figured I could at least send you an email.

We have had a dog (named Christine) in our rescue 2 yrs now. We have been unable to find her a home. She has several strikes against her.... #1 she is pittie, #2 she needs to be the only pet and no young children and #3 she is deaf. She is only 3 yrs old and a sweet girl once she gets to know you. We didn't know she was deaf until we put her into a 4 week board and train program and that is when it was discovered.

After that program we have consistently tried to find a home for her with no luck. We can't even find a foster for her. She did go to live with her trainer after her training program for quite some time but we continued to pay him for boarding her and then when he was moving and could no longer help, she went to live with somebody else from the training facility but again, she also required that we pay her for boarding.

We have put a lot of money into her training and boarding in the 2 years we've had her and our rescue can no longer afford it and not only that but the person who has been boarding her informed us last weekend that we have (1 week) to find her a new home because she had a life-changing situation occur and she can no longer keep her after that.

We have desperately been trying to find someplace for her since then with no luck.

"Christine is the bomb!!! She is not only beautiful, but she is also smart, loving and a lot of fun!

Christine may be deaf, but don't let that scare you. She has been through extensive training, and will come with some sign language training, if you are local. We've got you covered!

Christine is loveable but it may take a little while for her to warm up. After that, she is a faithful and loyal girl. Older kids (teens+) best due to her size. Christine does not care for the feline species, so no cats for her and would do best as the only dog. She loves playing with toys, chew bones and ropes toys, and one of her favorite activities is chilling on your lap for petting. She's a dream.

The ideal family would have a large fenced area or lots of room for her outside, one or two adults to herself with the willingness to attend some training for interacting with her and no other pets. Someone active to get her out for a hike would be super. We realize this is a large list of special needs but we can promise you that she is well worth it and we know there has to be someone out there that is looking for someone just like her to complete their life!

Please, please help Christine by either fostering or adopting her. She is only 3 years old.
