💔 A Message We Never Wanted to Write 💔

It is with a heavy heart that we share that Tennessee Dachshund Rescue is facing a reality we have never faced in our 10 years of rescue.

For a decade, we have been blessed to say “yes” to dachshunds in need. No matter the circumstance, we have found a way. But today, we are down to only a handful of active foster homes, and without additional fosters, we will be forced to close intake and potentially face decisions about the future of our rescue.

The truth is simple: rescue doesn’t happen without foster homes.

Every dog that comes into TDR needs a safe place to land while receiving medical care, learning to trust, and waiting for their forever family. We can cover the veterinary care, supplies, and support, but we cannot provide the one thing we desperately need most…a home.

We’ve made countless posts, sent pleas, and shared urgent requests, but foster numbers continue to decline. Meanwhile, the need for rescue has never been greater.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, now is the time.

🐾 TDR covers approved veterinary expenses.
🐾 We provide support every step of the way.
🐾 You provide a safe, loving temporary home.
🐾 Foster homes must be located in Tennessee.
🐾 Resident pets must be spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention.

One foster home can save a life. Ten foster homes can save dozens.

If you’ve adopted from us, supported us, shared our posts, or cheered us on over the past 10 years, we’re asking you to help us continue this mission. Please consider fostering, or share this post with someone who might be able to open their home and heart.

We are not ready to stop saying “yes” to dachshunds in need. But we can’t do it alone.

📩 If you’re interested in fostering, please apply today or send us a message to learn more.

The future of TDR depends on foster homes. ❤️🐾

📣 Another friendly reminder from TDR

When we post an available dog and you comment “I want Her”, “Call Me!”, or “Message Me!”, we promise we see the excitement, and we love it!

But that’s not how our adoption process works. The first step is always to fill out an adoption application. Our team reviews applications to determine the best fit for each dog. We’re an all volunteer rescue, so we can’t reach out individually to everyone who comments asking for information. If you’re interested, the ball is in your court , fill out an application.

🐾 Pro tip: the smartest move is to apply ahead of time for pre-approval. That way when a dog is posted that steals your heart, you’re already in the system and ready to go.

Dachshunds move fast around here, and being pre-approved can give you a head start.

So if you’ve been thinking about adopting a doxie, get that application in! Your future Ween may be posted tomorrow!

You can apply to adopt here 👉 https://www.tndachshundrescue.com/adoption-process/

If you’re interested in fostering and Reside in the state of Tennessee you can apply to foster here 👉 https://www.tndachshundrescue.com/fostering-expectations/

And you can find our adoption fees here 👉 https://www.tndachshundrescue.com/adoption-fees/

PS. Please Make sure to read over all the requirements prior to applying.

Also, if you have applied to either foster or adopt and haven’t heard back within a week or two, please check your spam folder for any emails that might have been sent. We’ve been working with Gmail but haven’t been able to remedy the situation.

Huey, Cassie, and Harrison, just a few of our available dogs!
