We are incredibly honored to share that The Davissa Horse Refuge has once again been nominated for Cap City’s Best of the Best 2026.

Over the past two years, this community has blessed us by voting the refuge β€œBest of the Best,” and we truly cannot express how much that support has meant to us, the horses, and the work being done here each day.

This little refuge was built simply out of love for old working horses and the belief that they deserve peace, dignity, and lifelong care.

If you would be willing to support us again this year, we would be deeply grateful. You can vote daily, and every vote truly does help.

Thank you, Cheyenne, for continuing to love these horses alongside us. ❀️🐴

** Edited for clarification** This post was meant to share with our fellow horse community that we have to be vigilant. Over the past two weeks we have had some neighbors who have gone out in the morning to find some tails and manes cut. It happens every year, usually in the spring and we were just reaffirming what we've said in years past. We all have to look out for each other and be watchful.

Over the past several months, there have been concerning incidents reported on farms and ranches in our region. While we won’t speculate on specifics, we do take these matters seriously and remain attentive to what is happening around us.

At The Davissa Ranch Horse Refuge, the safety and protection of our horses is a constant and top priority.

This is a private, closed facility. Access is by appointment only. The property is gated and access is controlled. We maintain active, 24/7 camera surveillance covering all areas of the ranch, and the property is routinely monitored in person. Our horses are checked multiple times daily and are never left without oversight.

We are intentional about maintaining a secure environment and are not an open-access property.

This refuge exists to provide lifelong care, dignity, and protection for the horses entrusted to us. We will continue to uphold that responsibility with vigilance.

We appreciate the respect of our boundaries and our privacy as well as the security and safety of our herd.
