Inspired by the Sha’Carri Richardson suspension, we investigate the progression of rules surrounding sports and cannabis this week. As the four major sports leagues in the United States are easing up on testing for ma*****na, the alignment between state legalization of w**d and an athlete’s ability to use it is becoming closer. Though terpenes, chemical compounds found in cannabis, are being proven to assist in injury recovery and stress relief, some sports associations are still on the fence about letting athletes use w**d. Some of the biggest names in sports suffer from anxiety- Biles, Harrington, Richardson- yet are at risk of being reprimanded for using a substance known to help with those struggles.
