March 1st is my mom's birthday and the start of Women's History Month. In honor of my mom! An amazing mother, beautiful, loving, and caring human being. Happy Birthday! This is a picture of her during her younger years. She was as fashionable then as she is now.

Celebrating Black History! The imprints of African Americans throughout history are the cornerstone of American history.
Let's celebrate and recognize some fashion icons that paved the way.
1. Elizabeth Keckly - Born a slave. Became Mary Todd Lincoln (Abraham Lincoln wife) personal dressmaker. After buying her freedom , she became a well-known seamstress to the elite in Washington DC.
2. Ann Lowe - First African American woman to be well recognized as a fashion designer. She designed one of the most famous wedding dresses in history. The ivory silk taffeta wedding gown worn by Jacqueline Kennedy.
3. Ruby Bailey- born in Bermuda. She became a fashion designer and important figure in the Harlem, NY social scene designing costumes in print and embellishments.
4. Jay Jaxon - designer of French Couture. Worked in fashion houses of YSL and Christian Dior.
5. Willi Smith - One of the most successful African American fashion designers in history. His label (Williwear Limited), which launched in 1976, grossed over $25 million in sales.
