Received beautiful affirmations from a marketing company yesterday about how I’m creating presence and holding space.

They were impressed how matter of fact’ly I came out about my status. And it has taken two decades to be here, so if anyone sees my work and thinks it’s easy or woowoo, please pause and dig deeper into yourself to the energy you are projecting.

To remove the stigma of creating and being seen placed on immigrants who are displaced and used for a border driven agenda of the state.

I am so stressed in conventional work spaces due to my status. Recently, I was out with former coworkers in food service and one of them said I am nothing like how she perceived me at work and so much of that has to do with immigrant stress. A fear of letting people in because if they know me they’ll report me and have someone deport me because community has done that, especially Filipino Community. That is some bitter medicine for our . To look at ourselves and the competition and division this limiting paradigm has made of us.

Which is why I choose this difficult, but necessary labor that gives back to me and my community. It is deep, it is intimate, the yield and gains are beyond the physical plane, and for that I am forever grateful.

My work is meant for liberation of myself and all this world. Not in a saviorism self-sacrifice or idealistic way. To get free takes the hardest work of walking through shadows, removing borders, but lifting up boundaries, reimagining safety, and relationship.

That’s what I am creating through SHHAA and all that I do.

I am not one to hide from the fire. I run into it after much preparation and strategizing. And I am not the medicine for everyone. I can be the poison too. And that is okay because we all have our roles in this life and with one another.
