Four years ago, a group of chefs said yes to an idea.

When chefs unify, we make an impact. When we show up together for causes we care about, that impact saves lives.

That idea became Chicago Chefs Cook.

And today — we’re a 2X finalist in the 2026 Food Awards for Community Impact.

We don’t take that lightly. This city’s chef community is extraordinary. Being named in recognition of their impact means everything.

Congratulations to our fellow finalists — , , , — and to every chef and restaurant that took a stand during the last 12 months. This category is full of amazing people doing heroic work.

If CCC has ever amplified a cause you care about, connected you to the power of food and chef civic leadership, or deepened your connection to Chicago’s purpose-driven culinary community — we’d love your vote.

There is something truly powerful about having people in your corner who show up for the causes on the hearts and minds of our Chicago culinary community.

We are so lucky that you are those people:

Thank you for supporting what we do. We can’t wait to see everyone on March 26th at the ‘I Cook For’ Event . ✨

➡️As we officially close the Chicago Chefs Cook “Eat Near, Eat Here” Challenge, we want to say thank you.

To our patrons:
Your reservations, your posts, your tags, your storytelling — it all mattered. Every meal shared, every restaurant highlighted, every hashtag used helped push real visibility to independent restaurants across our city. You didn’t just dine out. You showed up for Chicago.

To the Chefs:
Thank you for lending your voice, your platforms, and your generosity. Your participation gave this campaign credibility and heart. You reminded the city that restaurants are more than places to eat — they are small businesses, gathering spaces, employers, and culture-makers.

And together? We showed what this city is made of.
The “Eat Near, Eat Here” campaign generated over 200,000 views across platforms — shining a spotlight on local independent restaurants at a time when exposure and morale matter most. That reach means new eyes, new guests, and new energy flowing back into neighborhood dining rooms. That is real impact.

Thank you for supporting local. Thank you for believing in independent restaurants. Thank you for proving that when Chicago shows up, everybody eats.

With gratitude,
Chicago Chefs Cookstegner
