Maybe it's spring, maybe it's not, but at Flowering Fields Designs--well, it may always be spring with my new designs available now!

I have markets every weekend starting Saturday, so lots of ways to come visit and set yourself up for warm weather and gifts for Mom and everyone with those lucky summer birthdays :)

Introducing Dahlias & Poppies in Barrel (DPB). This design began as the continuation of my Mother's Day card theme with the peach poppies and pink/red/violet dahlias that I have used each year since my original Mother's Day design in 2023.

When I start a new piece, I assemble a collage of images that inspire me or have an element I want to study and perhaps include in my new design. The second image shows my collage for DPB: barrels used as vases that I referenced (found on the internet), the picture of an Odilon painting that I took at the Art Institute of Chicago, and several shots of dahlias from my garden.

The next pictures show my process from rough sketch to inked outline that I colorize with specially blended inks. The butterflies are created separately and photoshopped into the design.
