RESONANCE RECORDS + JOE SEGAL'S UNHEARD TAPES + JAZZ SHOWCASE in the CHICAGO TRIBUNE! We're thrilled to see this incredible feature by Hannah Edgar in the Chicago Tribune, celebrating the launch of our series of releases from the Chicago jazz impresario Joe Segal's Jazz Showcase archives. There are so many great quotes throughout this piece, but here's just a couple of our favorites.

At the New York International Antiquarian Book Fair (April 30–May 3 at the Park Avenue Armory), exhibitor will present a quietly extraordinary piece of music history: a signed 1957 receipt from Chicago’s legendary Mister Kelly’s nightclub, dated March 21 during Billie Holiday’s two-week engagement.

A late-night order—pork chop and three double cocktails—signed by Holiday herself, the receipt is at once mundane and deeply personal. Rather than a staged image or formal document, it captures something far more immediate: a trace of her presence in a space central to the live jazz circuit of the time.

A small but powerful artifact, offering an unfiltered glimpse into Holiday’s life on the road—just two years before her death.
