If the noises you hear occur only when your car is in drive, the vehicle may have a worn ring gear, worn pinion gear, or both. The longer you wait to have this checked and repaired, the more damage that it can cause.

To preserve your transmission, we suggest treating it kindly. Never shift from Reverse to Drive until the car comes to a complete stop after backing up, and always step on the brake when shifting out of Park.
