A massive THANK YOU to the record number of volunteers who came out to Winnemac Park this morning and WORKED!! Cleaning up garbage, attacking huge piles of organic debris, planting bushes, removing invasives, and mulching soggy paths all made a big difference!

Update on Winnemac Park drainage issues by the Amundsen ball field from the Park District via 40th Ward's Deirdre O'Connor:
Thank you for your patience as we work out fixing the drainage issues at the new Winnemac Park Artificial Turf field. Due to some field settling [the field nearest to the drain had sunk unexpectedly], we are having standing water conditions as the water can’t enter the catch basin and storm sewer system. Our surveyors and engineers have developed a plan to resolve the drainage issues, and our contractor has been authorized to proceed with the work. Active construction should only take 5-6 days, but our contractor needs some days without rain before they can get in to do the work, so we can’t provide an exact schedule at this time.
Not in the email but part of the update: Also waiting on ComEd to finish up the problems with lighting.
Looks like there will be another burn at Winnemac sometime today, Wednesday! 🔥
