It’s Volunteer Week and we’re trying to make a difference in our community.

We’ve done a lot of work over the last week with hosting a week long food drive, food and COVID kit packing event, and tomorrow is the last day with food delivery. So if you live in Chicago, have a car, and would like to volunteer then we need YOU! Join XL Cares, Brave Space Alliance, and Life 4 All for Ballroom Gives Back!

Did you know that Black History Month also known as African-American History month started off as a week? Created in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson as “Negro History Week”, it was a week celebration that coincided with Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday Feb 12th and ended with Fredrick Douglas Birthday Feb 20t, these two birthdays were often celebrated together by black communities. The week celebration would begin the process of recognizing and remembering the importance of the History of Blacks/ African American and blacks from all over the world, recording and honoring their accomplishments. It wasn’t until 1970 on the campus of Kent State University that black History Month was celebrated in its full capacity. Campus celebration lasted for more than a month starting on Jan 3. and ending Feb 28.

In celebration of the week that kicked off what we now know as Black History Month, we present to you our Life 4 All Inc. Black History Zine Issue 5.
