You don’t call it clutter.

You call it useful.

And maybe… it is.

But what happens when everything that could be useful…
starts taking up space in a life you’re actually living?

Midnight Snack E110 is one of the most personal episodes I’ve recorded.

This isn’t about being messy.
It’s not about laziness.
And it’s definitely not solved by “just decluttering.”

This is about what happens when you’ve lived through loss—real loss—and your nervous system learns:

👉 Nothing should go to waste
👉 Everything has value
👉 You might need this someday

And so you hold on.

Not just to things…
But to potential.
To safety.
To “just in case.”

In this episode, I talk about:

🜁 The psychology of holding onto “useful” items
🜁 How trauma, loss, and instability shape our environment
🜁 The difference between this pattern and hoarding (and where it can overlap)
🜁 Why cleaning doesn’t fix something that was never about time or discipline
🜁 And how to recognize when “holding” starts costing you more than it’s giving

This one is honest.
It’s lived.
And it might hit somewhere deeper than expected.

If you’ve ever looked around your space and thought,
“I don’t even use this… so why can’t I let it go?”

This episode is for you.

You don’t call it clutter.
You call it useful.
And maybe… it is.
But what happens when everything that could be useful…
starts taking up space in the life you’re actually living?
This blog is a deeper dive into something many people feel—but don’t have language for:
👉 Why it’s so hard to let things go after loss
👉 How trauma and instability shape our relationship to objects
👉 The difference between clutter, trauma-informed holding, and hoarding
👉 Why “just cleaning” doesn’t work when the root is psychological
👉 And the quiet cost of carrying everything that still “has value”
This isn’t about laziness.
It’s not about being messy.
And it’s not solved with a weekend purge.
This is about the nervous system…
and what it learned about survival, scarcity, and loss.
If you’ve ever looked around your space and thought,
“I don’t even use this… so why can’t I let it go?”
This one might meet you somewhere deeper than expected.

Let’s talk about something subtle… 👀

Not fake pain.
Not “people are lying.”

Something quieter than that.

Something most of us have participated in without realizing it.

There’s a difference between:
👉 expressing pain
and
👉 performing it

And that line?

It’s not always obvious.

Because when you’ve learned that:
“If I’m hurting… I’m seen”

Your system adapts.

Not to deceive.

But to connect.

So over time, something shifts:

You don’t just share what’s true…

You start shaping it into what’s receivable.

What lands.
What resonates.
What gets a response.

And now we’re not just healing.

We’re navigating:
👉 visibility
👉 validation
👉 and belonging

All through the lens of pain.

This isn’t judgment.

It’s awareness.

Because healing doesn’t always look like something you can post.

Sometimes it looks like:
👉 quiet
👉 unshared
👉 and deeply real

If this lands… don’t rush it.

Just notice where you’ve been speaking from.
