🏢 Xquina Incubator and Café Construction Update ✨
Great progress continues at Xquina as the project takes shape. The exterior framing for the incubator and café space is now complete, stair 1 framing at the first floor is ready, and the incubator space now has its subfloor installed.
Work is also moving forward on the new ramp and north end flooring, while the water service upgrade has officially begun ahead of schedule. At Casa Huitzil, selective drywall installation and new kitchen hoods are bringing the space closer to completion.
Each milestone brings us one step closer to creating a space that supports local entrepreneurs, fosters connection, and serves the community.
More updates to come. 🚧

Big things are happening at Toro Construction 🚧🔥
2309 Place has made huge progress over the past couple of months! The building now features a brand-new roof and rooftop units, along with reinforced steel and wood structural systems.
Unit 100 includes a large beam and column system that will support a future glass accordion door, creating one large conference room from two smaller spaces. The old wood flooring has also been removed and replaced with a brand-new solid concrete floor.
Interior framing is now complete for the future restaurant and nail salon. Major exterior improvements have also been completed, including tuckpointing, brick repairs, and new stone work designed to match the building’s historic terra cotta look.
Excited to keep watching this project come to life 🙌🏗️

This past Friday, we joined partners and community leaders to celebrate the ribbon cutting for 10 newly completed homes in Roseland, part of the Reclaiming Chicago initiative alongside United Power for Action and Justice, Hope Center Foundation of Chicago, and Southwest Organizing Project.
It’s an honor to contribute to a project that strengthens neighborhoods and expands access to homeownership on Chicago’s Far South Side.
As the general contractor for these ground-up homes, we’re proud to have delivered them efficiently in collaboration with our sister company, Integrity Wall, for prefabrication allowing for more precise, faster assemblies that help speed up the overall construction process while minimizing errors.

🚧We were proud to partner once again with Chicago Women in Trades (CWIT) to give students a hands-on look at a day in the life of our carpenters at Toro Construction.🚧
This week, students toured our single-family homes currently under construction, where they learned about job site safety, our building process, and had the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with our team. They also observed key phases of work including siding installation, closet doors, baseboards, and door moldings.
Programs like Women Build Illinois, a 10-week, 280-hour training initiative offered by CWIT, continue to open doors for individuals interested in construction careers. Much like our Technical Opportunities Program (TOP), it combines classroom learning with real-world experience, equipping participants with valuable industry credentials such as OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and MC3 TradesFutures certifications.
We’re committed to supporting workforce development and creating pathways into the trades. Looking forward to continuing this important work together.
