Earlier this month, Hearing and Color and La Caccina sat down with our 2025-26 Young Composer-in-Residence Abisola Toukourou at our annual Composer’s Forum! It was an afternoon of conversation and community where we heard from Abi about her compositional process, her inspirations, and her ambitions for the future. Thank you to everyone who came out to learn about and celebrate Abi’s residency with us!

Applications for the 2026-2027 Hearing in Color Young Composer Residency are now open!

This residency offers high school to college-aged composers the opportunity to workshop and premiere new choral works while receiving mentorship, community support, and professional development. Hearing in Color and La Caccina maintain our commitment to dismantling inequitable systems of power in musical spaces. Composers who don’t see themselves, their stories, or their communities reflected in the classical canon will be prioritized.

Do you know any young composers who would be a good fit for this opportunity? Visit the link in our bio for details, and send it to a young composer in your circle today!
