MAXWELL STREET BLUES REVIVAL® LIVE: Chicago Slim & Friends Doing Their Maxwell Street Thang . . Maxwell Street may be a long-lost memory, but to many it was a place where we learned about Chicago Blues music. Every weekend, our senses were immersed with amazing sights (open-air flea market), sounds (myriad live blues, gospel and R&B ensembles) and smells (Jim's Polish and pork chops). So, it was a no-brainer that when we began doing "acoustic" Mojo sets Guy's Legends, we decided to showcase songs and stories from the Maxwell Street era (Blind Arvella Gray, Robert Nighthawk, Carrie Robinson & Little Pat Rushing are my benchmarks). Getting to channel that energy live is always a spiritual experience. Doing it with long-standing friends (Anji Brooks, Lynne Jordan and South Side Stevie) makes it all the more memorable. A huge THANK YOU to Buddy Guy, Mark Maddox and the entire Legends crew for their continued support.
