Steele Band Boosters

As many of you know, one of our beloved band directors, Russell Barbee, passed away on April 19, 2026 in a tragic car accident. Mr. Barbee positively impacted thousands of students and was a treasured part of our fine arts family.

In honor of Mr. Barbee, the Steele Band Boosters are coordinating donations to have a piece commissioned in his honor. Our goal is to raise $4,000 to cover the cost of the piece itself, along with the expenses to invite the composer to come work with the performing ensembles.

In the event we have overage, the money will be donated directly to Mr. Barbee's beautiful wife, Stacey, and their two young sons, Nathan and Jackson.
