Fitness tip #10

If you work out on your own, you may have fallen into a routine of counting out your exercises, using 'sets'. While that is great and it works, my experience has taught me that using a timer, instead of counting out 'sets' is harder! For instance, 2 min of squats/1 min high knees/2 min of abdominal work is more difficult and efficient than giving yourself a number like 40 squats/40 high knees and 100 crunches. I just got an interval timer called the Gymboss (from an awesome workout friend-thank you!!) and you can preset your intervals, an alarm sounds and you know when to change it up - no more fussing with your watch! Remember - if you are pushing yourself, you need to give yourself a rest interval! Have fun with it! Challenge yourself!

Honestly... I am having a hard time focusing on fitness today after the tragedy of yesterday. So my fitness tip today is Just Do It. Sometimes, you may not feel like exercising. Or you may not be feeling 100%. Just Do It. Get it done. You'll feel better emotionally and physically afterward. And you'll be proud of yourself that you did it!
Fitness tip #3 of the 12 days of Christmas:
If you are in an exercise class, or following an in-home exercise video, instead of hurting yourself with a move or exercise that is too advanced for your current fitness level- use a simpler option! Don't worry about what the person next to you is doing - or the professional on the video - DO WHAT YOU ARE ABLE TO DO WITHOUT HURTING YOURSELF. There are always simpler ways to do something - it beats getting injured during the holidays!
