Today we said goodbye to our beloved Penny. She was as good as it gets.
15 years ago I went to Austin Pets Alive to see “Louise”, a dog so crazy she came with a disclaimer essentially saying not to adopt her. They had her in a double-tall pen, she was covered in mange, and was peeing everywhere. Somehow I knew…
As I walked to the ATM to get the $75 to adopt her, the song “Penny Lane” popped into my head and I knew that was her. I paid them and leashed her up. She pulled furiously in every direction. I set her in the back seat, closed the door, and the moment I started the car, she turned into the calmest, sweetest dog in the world. And that’s who she was for the rest of her life. She was meant to be my dog, and when I brought her home to surprise , she was ours.
Thank you for being the best dog, Penny. Thank you for giving us almost 16 years of unconditional love, laughter, and joy. I know you’re swimming with the best of em now. We love you forever and always.

Happy Mother’s Day to this remarkable woman. , you fill our lives with so much love every single day that we can only try to keep up. You pour so much heart and soul into everything you do and every person you meet. Anyone in your orbit is lucky to reap what you sow. We love you!
