The short answer? The Brig Niagara is one of our most historic ships — and Erie's waterfront wouldn't be the same without it, especially on July Fourth and especially this year. The good news is that, after a year in Maine for an extensive refit, the boat is scheduled to make it back on July 2 and will be available for tours at the Erie Maritime Museum.

The Niagara served as Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s relief flagship during the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812, securing the Northwest Territory for the U.S.
