As the winter chill sets in, it’s time to give your golf gear the TLC it deserves. Whether you’re pausing for the season or planning to travel somewhere warm for a winter round, proper care will keep your clubs and bag in top shape for when you’re ready to tee off again.

At Founders Club, we understand how much you value your gear—after all, it’s your ticket to great rounds of golf! That’s why we’ve put together these tips to winterize your golf bag and clubs.

1. Clean Your Clubs
Before you store them away:
Wipe down the clubheads with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grass.
Use a soft-bristled brush to clean the grooves for optimal performance.
Dry them completely to avoid rust or corrosion.
2. Protect the Grips
Your grips deserve attention too!
Wipe them down with warm, soapy water to remove oils and dirt.
Let them air dry—never store wet grips.
Consider regripping clubs that feel slick or worn for a fresh start next season.

3. Empty Your Golf Bag
Don’t forget to clean your bag!
Remove all items, including balls, tees, and personal belongings.
Shake out dirt and debris from pockets and compartments.
Spot-clean the bag with a damp cloth if necessary, and let it air dry.
If your bag has waterproof zippers, consider lubricating the zippers with zipper-ease
4. Store Your Clubs Safely
The right environment is key to avoiding damage:
Store your clubs indoors in a dry, temperature-controlled space (no garages or basements!).
Use club headcovers to protect the heads from scratches and dust.
If your bag has a rain hood, attach it to keep everything clean and protected.
5. Check for Repairs or Upgrades
Winter is the perfect time to get your gear ready for next season:
Inspect shafts for dents or bends.
Check clubfaces for wear and tear.
If your bag is showing signs of wear, consider upgrading to a Founders Club Bag with ample storage and protective features.
6. Plan Ahead for Travel
If you’re escaping to warmer weather for some winter golf:
Invest in a sturdy travel cover to protect your clubs during transit.
Use extra padding (like towels) inside the bag for added security.

Winter may put a pause on your game, but it’s also a great opportunity to ensure your gear is in prime condition for next season. If you have any questions about caring for your clubs or need recommendations, we’re here to help!

Stay warm, stay prepared, and here’s to an amazing season of golf memories!
