I’m back! I haven’t posted to this account in over a year, and an awful lot of life has happened in that time. Last January, I finished this beautiful afghan blanket through to honor a family and their lost mother. It was such a privilege to help them with this!

I wanted a new pair of mittens for this cold snap, so I made them! ❄️

My first FO (finished object) of 2022 was also my first time blocking, and more specifically, steam blocking! This technique involves pinning the FO to a foam mat in the desired shape and then steaming it. This relaxes the fibers and when they cool and dry they should stay the intended shape and size forever. Only works for acrylic yarns (other materials are blocked differently) and allegedly can only be done once!
I loved this pattern so much! Once I got the hang of it with the first complete leaf at the bottom, I didn’t have to look at the pattern at all the rest of the time! This blanket turned out quite a bit larger than I anticipated (nearly filled my 12 square foot blocking mats) but should definitely keep its recipient cozy for years to come. I didn’t snap a picture before I sent this blanket off in the mail, but the back is also just as pretty as the front!

Really loving my new knitting machine! I don’t plan on getting rid of the needles any time soon, but aren’t these quick knits adorable? And I made them all today!
