I was proud to pass HB 347 — the SHE WINS Act out of the Ohio House this week.
This legislation is about something simple, but powerful: making sure every woman has the full truth before making one of the most serious decisions of her life.
If abortion is truly “healthcare,” then informed consent should never be controversial.
Under the SHE WINS Act, women will be provided with clear, medically accurate information before any procedure, including:
• The name of the physician performing or inducing the abortion
• A full explanation of the procedure being used
• The immediate and long-term medical risks, including all possible complications
• The medical risks of carrying the pregnancy to term
• Alternatives to abortion, including adoption and parenting
• Available medical assistance for prenatal care, childbirth, and neonatal care
• The legal responsibility of the father to provide child support
• The right to withdraw consent at any time without losing access to future care or benefits
• Information on abortion-inducing drugs, including the potential to reverse their effects if a woman changes her mind
• For Rh-negative women, critical information about necessary treatments and the risks of refusing them
It also ensures this information is provided at least 24 hours in advance, and that a woman’s questions are answered fully and clearly before any decision is made. This can be accomplished in person or online.
This bill does not force a decision.
It empowers one.
Because no woman should ever be rushed, pressured, or left in the dark when facing a life-altering choice.
That’s what the SHE WINS Act is about—
truth, transparency, and respect.

I am proud to be a joint sponsor of the SHE WINS Act, which passed out of the Ohio House of Representatives this week.
Women deserve to receive complete and accurate information before undergoing an abortion so they can make a truly informed decision. That is not controversial, it is a basic standard of care.
If abortion is truly considered healthcare, then there should be no objection to ensuring informed consent before the procedure is performed.
