I've been asked to share Feng Shui consultation stories so I thought about the time when a client called me frantically requesting "make my boyfriend come back to me". Never mind that he belittled her, was verbally abusive and walked out on her when she was dealing with a serious health issue. I explained that Feng Shui shouldn't be used to make a particular person come into one's life; instead our energy should be spent on creating an environment that would attract a healthy relationship. First thing I asked her to do was to voice her desire (say aloud) "I am worthy of a healthy relationship"; next, we completed a clearing out mission on the one room with the most "corner" clutter, which turned out to be the bedroom. Symbolic message: get rid of the old "stuff" to make room for new gifts to enter your life. Lastly, I asked her to spruce up the entrance to her home and to the health food store she owned. In Feng Shui, the entrance is seen as a threshold for new opportunities. It's also a "calling card" so to speak - makes your first impression. The more welcoming, the more likely to attract positive people/customers and resources. We painted the front door a warm, brick red, added potted plants to the entrance, cleared any debris and made sure the entrance was easily seen. It's important to fix what's broken so she replaced a doorbell at her home and replaced some rotten wood planks at her store. Now I have to tell you, as a Feng Shui professional, it is always so gratifying when there's a positive outcome. As it turns out, about two weeks after the changes were made, my client called and shared that her old high school sweetheart came into her store and they started dating again! A different mindset, releasing that physical and mental clutter along with and sprucing up the front entrance did the job.

Feng Shui Tip for Today - Stay in sync with nature by decorating for the seasons. A simple act such as this will keep you open for change. Autumn is the time for letting go so as you see the trees shed their leaves, let this be a reminder to clear your clutter and let go of "stuff" that you no longer use. A simple exercise is to go through your space and without hesitation, choose ten items you could throw away.
