Looking for a clever, energetic companion who is equal parts athletic protector and professional cuddler? Meet 𝐙𝐚𝐧𝐞! Coming to us from an Ohio shelter, this handsome 10-month-old black, cropped, and docked boy has officially left his dark past behind him and is focused entirely on his bright future. He is the perfect blend of classic Doberman intelligence and endearing puppy charm.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬
Zane is incredibly bright and thrives on routine, structure, and guidance. He already knows the basics—sit, down, and place—and is currently working hard on his loose-leash walking. He is fully house-trained and a perfect gentleman in his crate, sleeping soundly through the night and eating his meals there (he’s a gentle grazer, so no slow-feeder needed!). He’s also a rockstar travel buddy who rides exceptionally well when crated in the car.

𝐏𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 & 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞
Make no mistake, Zane still has that "puppy brain" and typical Doberman energy! He is a total toy enthusiast and can be a bit mouthy when he’s excited. He has a healthy curiosity about the world—which currently includes investigating what’s on the kitchen counters—and he has a particular fondness for shoes, so a watchful eye and plenty of appropriate chew toys are a must to keep him out of mischief.

𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐤𝐬
Zane is a confident boy who takes his job as a backyard protector very seriously—he will absolutely let you know if someone is approaching! However, due to his past, he does have a sensitive side. He can be skittish around loud voices, and new people—especially men—make him nervous enough to shake at first. With a patient, slow introduction, he warms up (he won over his vet tech in no time!). Oh, and did we mention he sounds like a little tea kettle when he gets excited or impatient? It’s his signature trait!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞
Because Zane is still building his confidence and learning to navigate the world, he requires an adult-only home with a patient family who can maintain his routine. To help him thrive, he’ll need a securely fenced yard where he can safely burn off that fun puppy energy and keep an eye on his "domain." He’ll do best as the reigning king of the castle—meaning he needs to be the only dog in the home to get all the focus and guidance he deserves, and he has a strict "no cats" policy!
After a day of play and training, his absolute favorite thing is to curl up on a dog bed, a rocking chair, or right next to his favorite person for some serious cuddling. If you have the time, love, and structure to guide this brilliant boy through his teenage puppy months, Zane will reward you with a lifetime of loyalty and love!
