Bears and Chairs are even more fun with pizza tables found in the boxes.
Check to see where each of your students can count to. Not with objects but just by saying the words. If a child can only count to 10 why would we ask them to add 6 and 6? Having the correct sequence and names for numbers comes first. We expect children coming into kindergarten to be able to count to 20. The words for the numbers 11 to 19 are very difficult to learn. Many Asian countries have words that match the meaning. For example, er is two and shi is ten so shi er is twelve or ten and two. Er shi er is 22 or two ten two. No wonder the USA is behind when we are asking our youngest children to say the numbers 11 to 19 without the meaning of the amount.
