Your DTI (which stands for Debt to Income ratio), plays a MAJOR part in determining if you'll be qualified for a home. Credit is proof that you pay your debts and pay them on time. DTI shows that you can afford the monthly mortgage payments based on your income and existing debts. There are DTI calculators online that can help you see where you stand. Ideally you want to stay under 40%, however exceptions can be made by some mortgage creditors.

The first month is the hardest. This is where discipline and habits begin to form. The second month is when you learn from your mistakes from the month. The third month is where you find your rhythm and become more aware of your triggers. You also begin to gain more confidence in your budgeting abilities. Stick with it!

Don't get roped into the idea that you have to spend more money because you have more money. Most people have found themselves in a tight financial position where their expenses match their income. That can a difficult hole to dig yourself out of.
