All County parks will remain open throughout the holiday weekend:

• Frank Liske Park: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Rob Wallace Park, Virginia Foil Park and Vietnam Veterans Park: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Camp T.N. Spencer Park: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pool hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and weekend pool blocks are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Online registration is available one week in advance and is encouraged.

Please note: Fireworks are not permitted in any County park.

Mt. Pleasant and Afton Active Living Centers will be open Friday, July 3 and closed Saturday, July 4. The Concord Active Living Center will be closed both days.

All Cabarrus County Library branches will remain open Friday, July 3. All branches will be closed Saturday, July 4, and reopen Monday, July 6. The Harrisburg branch will close today, July 2, through Saturday, July 4, to accommodate setup for the annual Harrisburg July 4 Parade and Celebration.

The Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located off Highway 49, will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4.

The Construction and Demolition Landfill on Irish Potato Road will be open Friday, July 3. Hours are as follows:
• Construction and demolition waste will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Residential waste and recycling will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The landfill will be closed Saturday, July 4, and will reopen Monday, July 6.

Facilities remain open during this week's session break. While no scheduled programming is taking place, fitness rooms are open and drop-in activities and clubs may continue to meet.

Shelter schedule changing! Please take a few minutes to read this important update.

🚨🚨 IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT 🚨🚨

Beginning Tuesday, July 7, the Cabarrus County Animal Shelter will transition to a Tuesday through Saturday schedule, allowing the shelter to now be open every Saturday moving forward.

Shelter hours will remain 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended adoption hours on Thursdays until 6:30 p.m. Please note animal intakes still close at 4:30 p.m. each day, including Thursdays.

This change is intended to better serve our community by offering more availability during times when many residents are off work, with the goal of increasing adoptions, helping reunite lost pets with their owners more quickly, and reducing overcrowding within the shelter.

Owners may reclaim lost pets during open hours Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment on Mondays. Stray cats and dogs found in Cabarrus County may be brought to the shelter Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Animal Control remains available seven days a week for stray dog pick-ups. Owner surrenders will continue to be accepted by appointment only.

Appointments for adoptions are encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome and accommodated as quickly as possible.

We hope these updated hours improve accessibility for our community and help more animals find loving homes.
