I'm really pleased, and consider myself quite lucky to have accumulated so many specialty tools over the years. While some were purchased outright, and some were salvaged and restored, many of my tools were created here in my workshop over the years. One tool in particular that has brought me much joy using it to restore 40 and 50 year old motorcycle parts is my shop built wet media blasting cabinet, also know in the industry as a v***r honing cabinet. The process of wet sand blasting can remove many years of corrosion and staining and leave a surface that looks as good as the day it was created. It is especially nice on aluminum, copper and brass parts but works almost as well on steel and other hard metals. I've even been able to clean and restore some harder plastics. These carburetor bodies were almost to the condition of something that might be sent to the scrap yard just a few days ago. After a 24hr bath in a carburetor chemical tank, they were cleaned in the sonic cleaner for 2 hours to shake loose the last bits of gunk and then processed in the v***r cabinet for the final step. Once all of the bodies have been processed I can begin reassembling with the new jetting and gaskets. Just one of the services I offer here at my shop.
