Last night at Wesley’s baseball game it was Military/ First Responders Night. The 2 years Tiffany has been very involved in organizing this event. Last Year Lt Elizabeth Skipper threw out the first pitch to Wesley, she was the paramedic that treated Wesley from the scene of the accident to Memorial Herman. This year Chief Nations threw out the first pitch to Wesley. He was the first responder to the scene as he just happened to be at the light at the corner next to Cy Fair. At the scene he knew they wouldn’t be able to fly him to the hospital due to the weather and made the decision for the mobile transport.
Last night was the first time I’ve met him in person as I had only spoken to him on the phone from the scene of the accident and traded a couple text messages in the aftermath. To my surprise the first thing he wanted to do was apologize to me for being so direct on the phone that day. Needless to say he certainly didn’t need to do that because without his actions and that of his team that day, Lt Skipper and EMT Vargas, last night may not have ever happened. The fact Wesley is here and able to play baseball is in no small part to what they did for him that day. We will never forget!!
As for Wesley, he is doing well, but still has struggles everyday. He suffered a seizure in August at Fenway Park in Boston, which is his middle name, while we were on vacation and another on New Years Eve at home thankfully prior to going out for the night Tiff and I were here and Lt Elizabeth Skipper came and assisted us that night on her own time. The seizures are caused by post traumatic epilepsy and has been on a daily regimen of meds to help prevent, but many factors can lead to them. Through all of this he is set to graduate high school on time with an associates degree from Lone Star College this year and is set to attend Ole Miss in the fall. Hotty Toddy!
There are no words to describe how thankful we are for Chief Nations, Lt Skipper and EMT Vargas for what they have done for Wesley! Last night was very special and something we will never forget!!

The Worley’s
Since my last update Wesley has been very busy getting back into his routine. School, Young Life, baseball practice/lessons, homecoming, golf, corn hole tournaments hanging out with friends etc.
Some highlights. He completed his first 9 weeks in K level and dual credit classes, which all his doctors recommended against taking with 5-A’s and 2-B’s. Words can’t really describe how proud of him we are as he has worked so hard to get his grades to this point. He has been able to practice with the baseball team and has been progressing well there and is still working to get cleared to play in live games, though he did participate in in the Halloween scrimmage. He’s attended many social events including Homecoming which was a big night out for him and all of his friends. He and Austin Godwin won the Cy-Fair Baseball Fundraiser Corn Hole tournament, this may have been his favorite moment of the year, although yesterday was a really big day for Wesley. Almost 9 months after his accident he was able to drive himself to school for the first time. Our emotions have been all over the place on this decision, but to say Wesley was excited would be an understatement, I never realized that it would be an “absolute blast” to drive to school, but apparently it was. We are still working our way back to letting him drive anywhere just yet but will get there. Baby steps. For now he is surprisingly understanding on our stance and knows like all other things he has to put the work in to get there.
Thanks again for everyone that has been part of his healing process, he couldn’t have made it this far without you all.
We pray that he continues to heal and is able to accomplish all his goals.
