Julius Jones was scheduled to be executed today November 18th, despite the pardon and parole board's recommendation for communication. However, hours before Julius was set to be executed, Oklahoma Governor Stitt had commuted Jones' sentence to life without the possibility of parole. We are standing in solidarity with the family, loved ones, and activists who have been fighting tirelessly to stop his ex*****on.

He is an innocent man.

Julius Jones' race matters, and how this case is treated speaks to whether or not the state of Oklahoma cares about its Black residents.

The death penalty is inherently racist. The odds of receiving a death sentence are nearly four times higher if the defendant is Black. More than 41 percent of those on death row are Black - which is three times more than 13 percent of the general population of Black Americans.
