The Markle test is a physical exam technique used to assess for peritoneal inflammation or possible appendicitis.

To perform this test, instruct the patient to stand on their toes and then suddenly drop down onto their heels.

A positive test occurs if the patient experiences sharp pain in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen, which may suggest peritoneal irritation or appendicitis.
